Beckum training fair brings young people and companies together
For the 5th time, the Ahlen-Münster Employment Agency, the City of Beckum and the Steinfurt Warendorf District Craftsmen's Association are inviting companies and young people to BEAM, which will take place on 29 March on the grounds of the District Craftsmen's Association in Beckum.
"Due to demographic change, the number of young people entering the training market will decrease. As a result, companies will increasingly have to compete for young talent," explains Christian König, Managing Director of the Ahlen-Münster Employment Agency.
Together with Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich and Günter Schrade, Managing Director of Kreishandwerkerschaft Steinfurt Warendorf, he wants to use BEAM to get young people interested in training or a dual study programme and bring them into contact with companies.
"Beckum is an industrial location with many specialised and internationally active companies as well as a number of craft and service businesses. Unfortunately, however, it is no longer a matter of course for companies to find suitable trainees," says the mayor. At BEAM, young professionals can find potential employers in one place and make low-threshold contacts. "At the end of September, there were still 46 unfilled apprenticeship positions in Beckum, while 48 young people were looking for a training company," König emphasises the need for a training fair. "The BEAM is an opportunity to present yourself and get to know the skilled workers of tomorrow," says Günter Schrade, who is making the new premises of the District Crafts Association on Schlenkhoffs Weg available for the BEAM. The training companies can use the workshops for electronics, woodwork or construction, for example, so that activities can also be demonstrated and tried out in practice.
Employers who would like to present themselves at the fair can register online at beam-beckum.de from now until 10 January. "We are already seeing a great demand from training companies in the run-up to the event. We would also like to expressly encourage smaller companies to register for BEAM. It is not necessary to have your own stand to take part," reports Helena Wala from the City of Beckum's Urban Planning and Economic Development Department.
The BEAM - Beckum Training Fair will take place on Saturday, 29 March, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the grounds of the Kreishandwerkerschaft on Schlenkhoffs Weg. It is free of charge for both exhibiting companies and visitors.
