New village square for Roland
Lively participation in the citizens' workshop
How should the village square at the community centre in Roland look and be used in the future? The planning office Heuschneider Landschaftsarchitekten from Rheda-Wiedenbrück, commissioned by the town of Beckum, presented initial concept variants in a workshop.
Around 60 people took part in the lively discussion that followed. Working in small groups, the main topics discussed were a new route, the placement of new seating with a canopy and new planting and lighting. The planning office is now using the ideas and suggestions to draw up a preliminary draft and a design plan. An application for funding is to be submitted next year. The remodelling is planned for 2026.
