Lions Club Werse Ems supports youth welfare project in Beckum

Winter shoes and clothing for families in need

The President of the Lions Club Werse-Ems, Volker Drews, knows how difficult and costly it is for some families to provide their children with suitable clothing, and not just from the regular summer leisure activities that he has been involved in for many years with the Phönix-Team Beckum e. V. and the youth welfare office of the town of Beckum.

In dialogue with Jugendhilfe Beckum, it became clear that many needy families lack suitable footwear and warm clothing in view of the cold season. The Lions Club Werse-Ems has now taken the initiative and, with the support of the Blomann shoe store in Beckum, has procured winter shoes and jumpers for children and young people worth around 2,000 euros, which have now been handed over to representatives of the Beckum Youth Welfare Office for distribution.

Gabi Mackenberg from the city of Beckum's family welfare organisation is already looking forward to the upcoming distribution: "I can already see the children's shining eyes and the parents' happy faces when the families receive the items."

Olaf Schulte, Head of the Youth and Social Affairs Department of the City of Beckum, thanked the Lions Club and Schuhhaus Blomann for the generous donation in kind, which can be used to provide targeted, needs-based assistance to families in need of support in Beckum.
