Athletes swim and do gymnastics their way to the top
Every year, the town of Beckum, together with Sparkasse Münsterland Ost and the Beckum Town Sports Association, honours the outstanding achievements of Beckum's sportswomen and sportsmen of the previous year. The sports clubs have nominated the individual athletes and teams for places 1 to 3 in a process agreed with the city sports association.
At the award ceremony in the Sparkasse counter hall, it was exciting to see who had finally scored the most points and could take home the winner's trophy. Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich congratulated all the athletes on their outstanding performances, with which they inspire their audience and set an example to others, and on their nomination: "Whether in the water, on the parallel bars or on the beam, whether in the quadruple, lifeguard or butterfly: you are top in your sport and play in the top league!" said the head of administration in his speech.
And this is how they voted:
Lifeguard Alexander Bergenthal from the DLRG local group Beckum-Lipptetal e. V. was crowned best athlete. Second place went to swimmer Catharina Suchy from SC Undine Beckum. Third place went to gymnast Sina Forthaus from Turnverein Beckum 1892 e. V..
The title "Team of the Year 2023" goes to the swimmers of DLRG Beckum-Lippetal AK 120 w. The female youth (open, 2nd team) freestyle gymnastics team from TV Beckum was voted 2nd place. The 1st men's team from SC Undine Beckum came 3rd.
