Federal and state urban development funding 2024
City receives funding decision for overall measure in Neubeckum town centre
Funding of 889,000 euros from the state and federal budgets was approved for 2024 as part of the "Vibrant Centres" programme.
In total, funding totalling around 3.65 million euros will be available over the next six years, based on planned expenditure of just under 6.1 million euros. This corresponds to 60 per cent of the total eligible expenditure of the provisional funding ceiling. The decision relates to the ISEK funding application submitted by the city of Beckum in October 2023.
With the receipt of the grant notification, all projects belonging to the overall measure can be started and put out to tender in accordance with funding law. The partial measures include the conversion of the schoolyard of the Rosa Parks School, which is already at the planning stage, the conversion of the Neubeckum leisure centre and the municipal library as well as the urban upgrading of the eastern Hellbachtal.
Other measures in the coming years include the upgrading of the town hall forecourt, the redesign of the town twinning square, the redesign of the Villa Moll park and various items of street furniture. The already well-known house and courtyard programme, the disposal fund and the city centre management will also be continued with fresh funds.
"The decision is a confirmation of our adaptation to the new funding guideline. The planning security until 2030 to be able to implement all measures is pleasing. But above all, I am pleased about the urban development upgrading of the Neubeckum district that we want to achieve with the 11 projects," explained Uwe Denkert, Head of the Urban Development Department, after receiving the funding decision.
The bundle of measures is intended to improve the urban structure and quality of life in Neubeckum, promote measures for climate protection and climate impact adaptation and strengthen the social and cultural infrastructure using joint funds from the federal government, the state and the city. The measures are to be completed by the end of 2030.
In order to present the progress and success of the measures, participation in the "Urban Development Day" is planned, which will be prepared by the administration in the coming years.
