Subsidised fibre optic expansion in Beckum

Citizens, schools and companies in Beckum benefit from fibre optic expansion via the following funding programmes coordinated by the district of Warendorf:
White spots programme (download between up to 30 Mibit/s.)
Deutsche Glasfaser was awarded the "Weiße Flecken" funding in 2019 After the expansion work began, the company responsible for the expansion went bankrupt in the second half of 2023. AY-KOM was commissioned by Deutsche Glasfaser to continue the expansion. According to Deutsche Glasfaser, completion is 78% advanced as of mid-January. Due to the inadequate work of the first construction company, this is being checked and rectified in parallel. The first activations of customer connections are planned for June 2025. Completion of the subsidised fibre optic expansion in Beckum is scheduled for the end of 2025.
If the federal government approves a subsidised expansion, a further 200 or so addresses could be supplied with fibre optic by mid-2026.
Light grey patch programme (download < 100 Mbit/s.)
With a so-called upgrade of "light grey spots", further addresses with < 100 Mbit/s can be included in the funding. These addresses should be connected by mid-2026. No further scheduling is available at this time.
Grey stain programme
The invitation to tender and publication of the award procedure was carried out in July 2024 by the broadband office of the district of Warendorf. The submission deadline ran until the end of September. Appropriate bidder meetings were held to follow up on the bids.
By the end of the first quarter of 2025, the relevant committee resolutions (in all participating municipalities in the Warendorf district) must be passed so that, if the decision is favourable, the contract could be awarded in the first half of the year.
Schools support programme
The Martinschule, the Friedrich-von Bodelschwingh-Schule, the Sonnenschule, the municipal primary school in Mitte and the Astrid-Lindgren-Grundschule in Beckum were connected using the NRW fibre optic connection schools funding programme.
In addition, the connection to the main building is now being made due to remodelling work at the Rosa-Parks comprehensive school.
Industrial estates development programme
As part of the industrial estate development programme, the Obere Brede, Mark I, Kerkbrede and Daimlerring industrial estates and the Grüner Weg business park in Beckum will be supplied with 75 kilometres of fibre optic cable by Deutsche Telekom by September 2025. All companies in the development area were informed about the possibility of a free fibre optic connection in advance of the expansion.
The federal government is investing 50 per cent, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia 40 per cent and the town of Beckum 10 per cent of the total of almost 1.4 million euros.
