Village interior development concept for Roland

A village development concept (DIEK) was drawn up for Roland in 2018 with funding from rural development. The DIEK represents a comprehensive holistic perspective as a steering instrument for future developments in Roland.

The aim is to preserve the evolved structures and characteristic features in the long term and at the same time to strive for sustainable development by implementing the projects and measures developed in the DIEK for Roland.

The council of the city of Beckum adopted the village development concept (DIEK) for Roland on 27 November 2018:

Roland district

Roland was created at the beginning of this century as a works settlement for the cement industry. The former rural structure was transformed by the encroachment of excavation areas, cement works and the railway. Today, Roland has around 1,100 inhabitants.
