Update of the retail trade concept

In 2009, the city of Beckum developed a city-wide retail concept, which was adopted by the council in 2010 as an urban development concept. Since then, there have been considerable changes in the retail situation and the general conditions.

The concept was therefore updated and a new retail concept for the whole town of Beckum was drawn up.

The retail concept is to contain the city-wide analysis of the retail situation and serve as a concept for action for the future planning of the retail trade in Beckum. Furthermore, it is to be used as an instrument for controlling retail development as a development concept to be taken into account in accordance with § 1 (6) no. 11 of the Building Code, in order to be able to justify, among other things, the possibility of excluding or permitting centre and local supply-relevant product ranges, if necessary, within the framework of urban land use plan procedures.

The central points here are the identification of potentials and conceptual statements on the central supply areas, local supply and special locations. In addition, the Beckum assortment list and the future guiding principles were adapted.

The update of the retail concept was adopted by the City Council of Beckum on 08.10.2020.
