Water supply concept
The public water supply is an essential part of services of general interest and is therefore traditionally a matter of municipal self-government. According to Section 50 of the Water Resources Act (Landeswassergesetz), the municipality has a duty to ensure the supply of drinking and extinguishing water.
With the amendment to the Provincial Water Act passed on 6 April 2017, the municipalities must draw up a concept on the status and future development of the water supply in accordance with Section 38 (3), which shows that this is ensured in the long term.
The water concept must be updated every 6 years. The update of the concept was decided on 2 July 2024. The city of Beckum fulfils its legal obligations with this water supply concept. It shows how the city, in cooperation with Wasserversorgung Beckum GmbH, ensures the public water supply in its function as a local water supplier.
